Built Ford Tough Crowns the Ultimate Fan Champion.
Kevin Leidigh of Saucier, Mississippi drove his way to the winner's circle in the 2007 Built Ford Tough Race to the Dream. His victory capped the final competition, held at Homestead-Miami Speedway during the Ford Championship Weekend, which also featured the final final races of the NASCAR season in the Nextel Cup, Bush and Craftsman Truck.
This year's competition featured nine fan finalists from around the country. The finalists were flown to Homestead-Miami Speedway in November for the final competition.
The nine finalists were Kevin Corbitt of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; Dwayne Elders of Thatcher, Arizona; Marliese Sigmon of Charleston, West Virginia; Dave Rogers of Charlotte, North Carolina; Kevin Leidigh of Saucier, Mississippi; Amy Hoffmann of Toledo, Ohio; Nathan Jensen of Ellendale, Minnesota; Matthew Prough of Jackson, Michigan; and Daniel Britain of Blue Grass, Iowa.
At the Speedway, the contestants competed on the track, driving Ford Fusion Nextel Cup race cars with a professional driver in the passenger seat. The second portion of the competition put the contestants behind the wheel of Built Ford Tough F-150s and F-Series Super Dutys and turned them loose on a grueling off-road course and challenging on-track skills test.
When the smoke cleared and the dust settled, Kevin Leidigh was the Ultimate Fan Champion. For the remainder of the weekend, Kevin was treated like racing royalty. He dropped the green flag for the Ford 300 Busch Series Championship Race, was flown to and from the track in a helicopter, and got to meet his Ford Racing heroes.
