Safety Runs Parallel with Versatility and Maneuverability
Known as “the purpose-built van that's as unique as your business,” Ford's Transit Connect commercial vehicle is designed for business owners who require utility, affordability - and safety.
With its five-star crash safety rating in both frontal and side crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Transit Connect achieved the highest crash safety rating the agency grants vehicles.
In the examination, NHTSA issued its five-star crash safety rating in frontal testing to both the driver and passenger seats. Similarly, the five-star crash safety rating was issued for both the front seat and rear seat during the side crash test. That means you can be sure your driver and Transit Connect's contents are well-protected while en route to the next delivery.
What does a Five-Star Rating Mean?
NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) rates vehicles of all makes and models to determine their crash and rollover safety. The ratings are created with data gathered during controlled crash and rollover tests. Vehicles with the highest ratings receive a five-Star Rating. NHTSA is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation and issues the star ratings to vehicles on a yearly basis. Find out more at www.safercar.gov.
Safety Is in Its DNA
With features like AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, the Transit Connect has the only electronic stability control system with a vehicle-roll motion sensor that measures the roll rate 100 times a second. Working with the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), traction control and yaw control, the system automatically determines how to apply individual brakes and modify engine power. AdvanceTrac is standard equipment on the Transit Connect Wagon and available on the Transit Connect Van.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), standard on all models, alerts the driver whenever any mounted road tire drops below a certain pressure, excluding the spare tire. It also comes standard with power front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, and four-wheel ABS.
An optional Reverse Sensing System, which can be helpful during limited visibility or high-density settings, alerts you to closing distance when slowly backing toward an object - or when parallel parking - and beeps more rapidly as the vehicle gets closer.
So, whether delivering high-value cargo or just the recycling, Transit Connect gets you and your goods to every destination with innovative safety features and the peace-of-mind knowing it deserves its five-star crash safety rating from NHTSA.
